Generla questions

  1. Are updates free of charge?

    Updates with the same main version number are free of charge, but the software has to be purchased directly through www.xpertdesign.de

    Example: You ordered Version V1.5 then all Updates up to version V1.9.9 are free of charge. The update to version V2.0 will cause a small update fee. (up to 40% of the license value)

  2. How many licenses do I need to order for my company?

    Each user needs a license. If you plan on using the Xpert-Timer on a laptop and on a desktop, then you only need one license, as long as the same username is used.
     

  3. Can I use Windows large fonts?

    You can use the large fonts, but you might experience some display errors in the To-Do list. Therefore we suggest to use the standard of 96dpi.
     
  4. Does the software run on Windows Vista?

    Yes, Xpert-Timer runs on all operating systems from Windows 2000 and up.
     
  5. What are the system requirements?

    Windows 2000 / XP / 2003 with 20 MB free RAM approx. 15 MB free harddisk space.
    If you plan on using a MS-SQL Server, please use the version 2005 or 2008 as you might experience some errors in the reporting, when using MSDE 2000.
     
  6. Can I create subprojects of subprojects?

    No, the structure is Client -> Main project -> Subproject -> To-Dos. You can not go any deeper.  

Installation & Update

  1. I want to update Xpert-Timer. How can I prevent data loss?

    The Xpert-Timer setup only exchanges the program files. An existing database will not be touched during the installation. 
  2. How can I deinstall Xpert-Timer?

    Go to the Windows system settings and click on "Software". Choose Xpert-Timer and click deinstall. You can also go to your Start menue, point to Xpert-Timer and choose "Deinstall Xpert-Timer".

Network & Database

  1. I'd like to use a Microsoft SQL Server. What do I need to do?

  2. I'd like to access the database with multiple users. What do I need to do?

    The access data to the database is stored in the XpertTimer.ini file. Please click [here] for further information.
     
  3. The helpfile can be opended through the network, but doesn't show any data.

    Windows blocked the access to .chm files through the network in one of their last updates. The helpfile can be started, but does not show any data. You have the option to use the helpfile on the internet instead. Otherwise you need to cope the .chm file on your local computer.

Printing & Reports

  1. I'd like to change the look of the reports created in the statistic module. What do I need to do?

    At the moment you need to purchase the additional module XTReport in order to create reports with your own look. In version 2.0 you'll be able to change the look of the internal reports.
